Born and raised in Nevada, I've been a resident of the Central Coast of California since 1973. While I went to collage as a botany student with a desire to be a forest ranger, in one of life's strange little twists I became an auto mechanic for 45 years. I liked it and it turned out I had a bit of skill at it.

While it seems that I've always dabbled with photography, the defining word would be "dabbled". However, over the years, I became the designated documenter for the outings that our group of friends took and that evolved to making a calendar each year for that circle of friends. I really had to up my game at that point. While demonstrably not an accomplished photographer, "focus" and practice and the advent of digital allowed me to be able to find presentable images by sheer numbers if nothing else. The biggest revelation though, was that I found that I really enjoyed the process and the creative outlet. I also encountered so many wonderful, creative, and thoughtful people in the process that the end result is that I will now always continue, probably regardless of the quality. Thank you, Flickr.
