I live in Perth, Western Australia, a really beautiful part of the world with (mostly) good weather and great lifestyle. I’m married with 2 grown up sons, three grown up step children, and 7 grandchildren. I enjoy socialising and really have trouble saying ‘no’ to invitations, often against my better judgement. I am working on being well travelled and have made a pretty good start in the last few years, travelling to New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, China, Nepal, Sri Lanka, The Maldives, Spain, Italy and recently Cuba (a seriously good place to take photographs). I plan on seeing as much of the world as I can in the future and capturing my adventures on ‘film’. I really enjoy photography and have so much to learn. When I get a good shot it has so much more to do with luck than technique. I enjoy the challenge of photographing birds and animals. Their unpredictability adds an especially exhilarating level of satisfaction when the shot comes off. Also enjoy taking photos of people and love it when I get a good candid portrait shot. Doors and windows and lone trees are also of particular interest for some reason and I’ve been in competition with my sister in law for the ultimate sunset shot for a number of years now. Lately I’ve been experimenting a bit with macros and I really need to work on my low light photography skills. I dally with the idea of doing a post production course like Lightroom or Photoshop but don’t really have the time (or inclination) for the commitment.
