Currently residing in Bermuda. Each year I spend 1-2 months in Cape Town, South Africa. Summertime I am at home in Scotland, hiking, golfing or enjoying the various aspects of Scottish cultural life.
There is nothing in life that I enjoy more when after a long hard day on a mountain if I can satisfy myself with great food and a
great bottle of wine. CHEERS !!!!!!

As well as being an exceptionally good landscape and architecture photographer, John Dera has great taste in the countries he loves (and in football teams he supports, as he is a fellow Raith Rovers supporter). His favourite places include the Scottish Highlands and Islands, South Africa and Bermuda, all places of great beauty in their different ways. Through the medium of his photos, John has transported me to wild and isolated Scottish beauty spots that I’ve never been to, but feel that I know now, thanks to his talent.

John's photos on Flickr are a continual source of inspiration. Wonderful locations, crystal-clear detail, superb vivid colours and perfect composition – those are his trademarks. As one who shares his obvious passion for the remote corners of north-west Scotland, I can say that among the reasons to look forward to the long summer days, I now include the chance to see some new images by John Dera, capturing perfectly the character of some of the most beautiful places in the world. ps - If the Isle of Harris tourist board hasn't taken a look at his photos of the local beaches, then they really ought to!
