I've spent decades thinking about apertures and shutter speeds but often not coming up with photographs that please me. I've discovered that if I think of a photo as an organism unto itself, a translucent lump of clay, if you will, and I think of the dials as extensions of my fingers then it begins to make sense to me. This one stretches it this way, that one pushes it that way. Sculpting a photo, I guess you could say. I've starting doing exposure manually - just meter the parts of the scene and make my own decisions of what needs emphasis and what can be sacrificed. Somehow it makes more sense to me like that.
I have stuff I think is great and stuff that's barely more than a snapshot. But I have fun and it all teaches me something.
If you want to look around my gallery I hope you enjoy it!
