By profession I am a computer systems engineer for a local school district but by avocation I am an inveterate traveler. While I currently call Houston, Texas home, I do make frequent visits to Brasil and Portugal (places where I have both many friends and family members). When not fixing computer networks or taking long flights, I write articles on distance learning, genre films and travel.

My philosophy on travel is to make every trip an adventure and try, at least once during each visit to a foreign land, to go off the beaten tourist path and explore life as local. I love language and am able to converse relatively intelligently in four (English, Portuguese, Spanish and French) and I am following a course of study that should, within a year or so, equip me with the fundamentals of Russian and then Japanese.

I travel to Rio de Janeiro at least two to three times a year and I enjoy sharing my discoveries and experiences in that marvelous city with others.
