The African Solar Taxi project (www.africansolartaxi.com) is developing solar powered electric vehicles to transport pregnant women in Zimbabwe from villages to health care facilities. This will reduce maternal mortality and will reduce the transmission of HIV from mothers to their newborn babies.

The project is a collaboration between Team Trev (www.teamtrev.com) in Australia, CESVI (www.cesvi.eu) from Italy and St Albert's Mission Hospital (www.stalbertsmissionhospital.org/) in Zimbabwe.
