I met Doug years ago on a photo sharing board. He and his wife RA are salt-of-the-earth folks, kind and honest. Couldn't ask for better friends. We've gotten together a couple times in Colorado, and several times in Alaska. Great times! Doug is responsible for getting me interested in wildlife photography, and that has continued to this day. He is one heck of a photographer, knows the animals WELL, and never hesitates to share his knowledge of their behavior and locales. In short, he is a great bud!

I've known Doug through Flickr for a little over two years now. He was one of the first very people to comment on my early photos and was more than gracious when it came to his words (and trust me, my originals weren't that good. :-) Over these past two years, I've seen nothing but wonderful images coming from Doug and I'm truly impressed with each new image. Doug is truly a master when it comes to photographing Bald Eagles, and other Alaskan wildlife, but it doesn't stop there. He finds ways to bring out the beauty in every photograph that he takes and has been a wonderful inspiration to me since I joined. I'm so glad to have him as a contact and I'm sure that you'll enjoy his photostream.

His excellent eye for detail is apparent in his outstanding flower images. The selection, composition, color a detail make his closeup work stand apart from the rest. Just when you think you have reached the limits of what any person could do well, you come across his landscapes. Doug is the master of the grand scenic image. Take a look at his photostream and see if you don't agree. On a short list of my most admired photographers, both on Flickr and off, Doug would certainly rank near the very top.
