The space that surrounds me, with its shapes, colors, textures and materials, is a conceptual entity that I have always been aware of, since I can remember myself. In life experiencing terms, a well designed space can be transforming, not only because it can be made more beautiful and interesting but also because it can become functional as well. “Form follows function” has always seemed to me as the right perspective towards interior design. Whether it is meant for relaxation and lounging, entertaining and socializing or creativity and production, interior space involves a part of our lives. From abstract space it can be turned into a place with character, which meets the emotional, social, and functional needs of people. This keen sense of spatial awareness defines me and characterizes the way I perceive everyday life.
The inspiration for my pieces comes from many active fields of my everyday life and in particular from my engagement in many forms of art in my free time, like dancing, listening to music, visiting museums and contemporary art galleries. Travelling has also been a great source of inspiration. To be more specific, lots of abstract paintings in which I mostly follow the expressionistic technique have been inspired while listening for example to dubstep music which creates excitement while more relaxing music such as chill out music has inspired me to create different sketches and some pieces such as the “Tree of Life”. Moreover, all kinds of dance are really fascinating as they express feelings through the movement of the body; therefore I have tried to depict some kind of movement in some of my works such as the “Curly Branches.” Additionally, my visits to museums such as the New Acropolis Museum, the Louvre and Pompidou Museum in Paris, the Tate museum in London, the Yorkshire Sculpture Park in Yorkshire and my visit to the Pyramids in Egypt have all been a source of artistic inspiration which ended up in the production of many works such as the “Out of time,” “Conceptual design for a musical platform” and the “Serving hand.”
Becoming a successful interior designer is a career goal that I am willing to work very hard to achieve.
