Photography is a system of visual editing. At bottom, it is a matter of surrounding with a frame a portion of one's cone of vision, while standing in the right place at the right time. John Szarkowski
I joined flickr in 2007 - true confession here - I was a bit of an on-again-off-again photo voyeur. I sat back and watched from the sidelines, admiring incredible work from all over the world. I finally got up the nerve to upload some stuff in June 2009. Then some more...and some more. I still relish the thrill of that first comment...first fave...first group invite...first contact...and then, Eureka! Less than two months in, one of my photographic heroes faved three of my neon pics out of the blue. I’m still recovering.
Fast-forward 6 months...15,000 plus views, over 100 incredibly talented contacts who improve my seeing daily - many of whom are local, and who I’m looking forward to meeting at various flickr events...the circle grows.
I owe a debt of thanks to my husband Larry (the Lairman), and to a number of dear friends who have all suggested at one time or another that I notice things that others don’t, and that my travel photos don’t look anything like theirs - even when we’re on the same trip. In photography, that can be a good thing. ;-)
I’m so happy to be here. At this time, and in this place. Lucky me.
