My passion for photography came from my mother. In the late 70s to mid 80s she had a Hasselblad 500C/M. Completely manual, it made taking images an art versus a convenience. But the images she captured showed me that there was beauty everywhere; it was a matter of looking beyond the obvious.
My entrance in this passion started in mid to late 80's using an Olympus SLR 35mm. This is when I started to develop my 'eye'. As I grew as a photographer, so did my attention to those details. What drove me then and continues to drive me today is to capture the essence of the image and the emotional connection. Over the years I have honed my interests and abilities on specific areas. There is beauty all around us, all you have to do is look away from the obvious. All images are taken in their natural form. Meaning, nothing is staged.
For the most part I have always used Nikon products. Over the years that followed I used the Nikon D70, 90 and the current Nikon 7100 24MP. Lenses used are the Nikon Nikkor DX 55-300mm VR, 50mm 1:1.8D (fixed) and Nikkor 18-35mm 1:3.5-4.5G ED. My back up is the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5. I use this one because it has a Leica lens.
Locations have varied from Italy, Canada, Switzerland, Cuba and the United States. Subjects range from equines, cars, architecture and nature.
I was, and will continue to be eternally grateful to her for showing me the possibilities in photography.
The image on the banner is called Grey in Stride taken May 25, 2014 at an event in Oro, Ontario. The full image was intentionally taken to simply show the grace of the animal without letting the rider or surrounding spaces interfere.
