My Father used to own an electronics store so I was exposed to radios and the early days of TV. Since we were 100 miles from the nearest transmitter for TV, we had to use extra measures to receive this new technology. We sold and installed off-air antennas and cable systems onto high hills and mountains. The next step was of course satellite and we got in on the ground floor with home TVRO for Channel Master. To this day, I still really enjoy testing and reporting on performance data from antennas. The switch to digital has changes the landscape and many manufacturers of antennas have seen demise and FM has now turned to internet streaming but DXing still remains a hobby for me.
