Retired project manager / engineering draughtsman.

Took up photography as a retirement hobby, and ,living on the somerset levels I loved it straight away. We spend our winters away in the Algarve in our motorhome and the opportunities for bird photography are endless and I am hooked.

Things have moved on a little since I wrote the original description, so a little update could be useful. We now live in Bristol not on the Somerset levels (sad but neccessary). I have bought, tried and moved on through 4 more cameras since starting and currently use a Canon eos5D mk 3 for most of my photos. Its a superb camera and I am very pleased with it. Dec 2018 update. had to sell the 5D (too heavy) Now using 80D .June2020 update. I have changed camera's again and now using a Canon 7D Mk2. Latest update (July 2022) We have moved back to Burnham on Sea and I have returned to my Canon EOS 5D mk3. I just love this camera. Don't get out quite so much these days as my wife has Parkinsons Disease and I am her carer.
