Hi! I'm a recently semi-retired media hound (and part-time camera nerd) based in beautiful Yellowstone Country, USA.

I'm the former editor and current editorial/photography consultant for Idaho Falls Magazine, a fat juicy full-glossy community publication that covers the lifestyle, culture and civic spirit of the beautiful Upper Snake River Valley in eastern Idaho. Read all about it at www.idahofallsmagazine.com.

Most of my image work spills straight out of my old day job, but in addition to being a professional shutterbug, I'm also proud to be a hobbyist. I'm an eBay addict, so I've made the rounds with just about every Sony, Nikon and Canon EF lens inside 300mm.

There are worse habits in this life.

In addition to my media work and freelance photography, I also do a fair amount of editorial and commercial video. My dad, Dan Smede, launched into a video-production and marketing twilight career after 25 years as an anchor for the NBC and ABC affiliates in Boise, Idaho. In early 2009, I did some slave labor for one of his projects -- a music video for Washington-based folk artist Tim Noah. I've been up to my ears in it ever since. Thanks Dad!

If you live in my neck of the woods and want to take a stab at shooting for the magazine, contact me at steve@idahofallsmagazine.com. (Not much of a freelance budget, but hey, it's good exposure for ya--pardon the pun.)

To peruse some of my video work, you'll find a lot of it at vimeo.com/album/3549369.

Thanks for stopping by!
