William D Boehm

William Boehm first began hiking and photography in 1962 at the age of 16, documenting his families' exploration of the Washington Cascades. His explorations expanded to Alaska and British Columbia, then wild areas in Africa, South America, the Arctic and Southeast Asia. He retired from his professional career as a senior ecologist and environmental scientist restoring wetland, stream, and salmon river habitat projects for King County Department of Natural Resources. He has guided natural history trips throughout the world, and documented in both photographs and text these explorations in publications including National Geographic books, Sierra Club books, Audubon, and Smithsonian. His new and revised book Glacier Bay Old Ice, New land to be released June 1, 2014 has been reviewed having stunning images blended with a poetic description of the natural history of Glacier Bay Alaska. William received his BS in Forest Science with a minor in zoology, and MS in Wildlife Science both from the University of Washington in 1968 and 1972.
William has four adult children, and lives in Singpapore with his wife Djainiaty. He continues exploring other countries and is involved in Christian missions support in Southeast Asia and Peru.
