When I was young I never really cared for art all that much. I wanted to build things, take them apart and learn what makes them work. When I was in highschool I took a class called Vocational Auto. This class forever changed me. I knew in highschool I was going to be a master certified automotive service technician. While in high school, I also wanted to be in the United States Army. I signed the papers to be in the army, only to get sick with an illness called Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. After being diagnosed I could not pass my medical exam, so I never went into the army. After years of recovering to be normal again. I decided to stay with my pursuit to be the best automotive service technician I can be. I went to South Central College in the automotive program. I ended up getting an internship my second semester in the program. I learned so much. I graduated with highest honors. I did every training I could to be the best I could be. After three years of hard work I was having trouble with all the physical work. Working on cars can be very physically demanding. My illness never really makes it any easier.
Backing up a step, before I left college, I took a photography class for a general education class to get out of the way. I took the class and found it pretty easy and ended up watching others struggle. They were not struggling with taking photos, they were struggling with handing in their assignments on time. My Instructor pulled me aside one day and asked me if I liked photography, I said yes it's really fun. He told me that I had a talent in what I was doing and if I didn't do something with it, I would of been wasting it. Now after all the years of working hard in the automotive field, I decided that I should go back to school for photography. I wanted to see if I could be the best photographer I could be and leave behind a job I was really good at. But it wasn't really good to me. I soon realized that photography doesn't make you great. Photography gives you skills to be good in other things. So I am persuing multimedia. I get to do everything! Over the time I have been studying, I really realized what I like is commerical art. I aspire to be a successful commerical artist. I enjoy multimedia because I can tell stories in a fun, dynamic way. I will graduate after fall semester 2015.
