I don't consider myself a photographer. A photographer is a artist that can CREATE an image using the science of light and exposure, among other things. Although I appreciate photography as an art form, I was never serious enough to ever study the technical aspects of photography (and have a bag full of gadgets). Instead , I consider myself a "Photo-Documenter" My use of the camera was merely as a tool to RECORD the moment of the experiences and sights of railroading as I saw it unfolding. My camera bag was simple: just a entry level camera and a couple of lenses. I focused on the scenes of railroading rather than on just the equipment and tried to capture the essence of the railroad in its environment. If that resonates with you, the viewer, then I have done my job.

My Father was a rail fan and took me out often in the steam and early diesel era of the 1950's We took it all in but we didn't take any pictures. Photography was expensive back then , but It is something I regret to this day. When I came of age and was able to,

I bought a camera. Here within lies the results of 50 + years of those experiences when I WAS carrying a camera........enjoy! And thanks ahead for all your comments. I really enjoy reading what you all are thinking
