The purpose of this account is to engage and educate the citizens of Richmond, Virginia, about how and when to call or text 911 and how to prepare for and recover from disasters. It is also to share information to help the community, recognize outstanding work and to help us recruit the best job candidates.

This page is NOT to be used for requesting emergency help. In an emergency, call 911 if you can, or text 911 if you can’t call. Text-to-911 is not available in all areas. This Flickr account is NOT monitored by 911 call-takers or dispatchers.

We welcome comments from members of the public to help further the goals of engaging and educating citizens, recruiting job candidates and sharing information to help the community. Posts that do not help to further these goals or are deemed inappropriate may be removed by account administrators. Examples of inappropriate content may include, but are not limited to:
