The Riviera Gallery is located on Metropolitan Avenue in the thriving arts neighborhood of Williamsburg, Brooklyn just a few blocks from the East River. Established in January 2003 by a collective of five designers / artists. The Riviera maintains an open schedule of 3-4 week long shows curated by the partners and other highly regarded artists and curators.
As an artist run gallery, we attempt to represent the most interesting young talent we can find around. Our informal attitude seems to have struck a chord in NYC where, like many other large cities, the art scene has become very difficult for young artists to break into unless they follow “the rules” and enter through the established channels. The Riviera is part of the new wave of underground art that is beginning to establish itself nationwide and internationally as an alternative scene. The gallery consistently attracts large crowds to exhibit openings and has firmly established itself as one of the most prominent venues in Williamsburg by consistently showcasing interesting works of a very high standard. The gallery has received attention from publications as diverse as Creative Review, Anthem Magazine, Time Out NY and The New York Times.
The Riviera has showcased the talents of: AJ Fosik, Andrew J. Wright, Andrew Pommier, Angela Boatwright, Asha Fuller, Ben Woodward, Derrick Hodgson, Greg Lamarche, Hektor, Holly Stevenson, Jeremy Fish, Jordan Islip, Joseph Ari Aloi, Matt Leines, Matthew Rodriguez, Michael Sieben, Rich Jacobs, Richard Colman, Taylor McKimens, Ted McGrath, Travis Millard and many others.
