This all started with a point and shoot and my son's bird project. It is impossible to get a good picture of a bird with a point and shoot (unless they're tame). So then I got another camera, and then another lens, and then another camera, and, of course, another lens. Right now my set up is the Canon 40d with the Canon ef 70-300 is and a Canon ef 28-135 is. I have just order the Canon 580ii speedlite. I use Adobe photoshop elements 7 for editing, and am finding that I like doing portraitures, too. However, birds are my favorite things to shoot....probably because there is an unending variety. Because I love to capture the feather detail, I am lusting after the Canon 100-400L lens. My cheap hobby is not so cheap, anymore. But my ultimate goal, when I take a picture, is to get something really special, and with a few exception, I really don't care what the subject matter is. My flickr friend Woody50 said, you can tell how good the photographer is by the size of his trash can....all I know is that the better I get, the more I throw away....I get pickier and pickier....if I already have a shot of something that is better than the one I just took, then I won't even bother with it.
I have been married 21 years to my husband, Steve, an FBI agent here in Atlanta; and we have two kids, one in college and one in high school. We met when we were in the military, he was going through helicopter school in the Army and I was in the Air Force. Because of his job, we have been able to travel to many different places and have lived in Airzona, Peurto Rico and now Atlanta, which is his home. I am from Michigan, and as I get older, have become more homesick. After a trip back home, I changed my flickr name to CCintheSouth...CC are the initials for my maiden name.
I have met so many facinating people on flickr and feel fortunate to have found this outlet for my creativity. The caliber of photographers posting on flickr, is exceptional, and because of them, I have become a better photographer. So many have, very generously, shared their knowledge and expertise with me, and as a result I have improved quite a bit!

I was lucky enough to meet her once after she introduced herself. Her camo outfit augmented with spider webs, leaves and bugs certainly fooled me and the birds!!
