Born in Blakenall Heath, suburb of Walsall West Midlands 1952. From an early age I have always had an interest in photographs especially heritage, public transport old and new. With regards to public transport, my fascination was more with the modes rapidly becoming obsolete in the 1960s when I was growing up such as steam hauled passenger trains and trolleybuses in Walsall and Wolverhampton. My first recollection of First Generation electric tramcars was those operating between Mumbles and Swansea while on holiday with my parents in South Wales in 1959 when I was seven. To the best of my knowledge, the line closed in its entirety on 3rd January 1960.
Today I am taking a keen interest in modern light rail tram systems especially the ones which are expanding their mileage. The Midland Metro, Nottingham Express Transit, and Manchester Metro link are the ones I intend to visit to take photographs.
The first photographs I took were with an old Polaroid camera of relatives when I was eleven years old in 1963. Gradually I started to progress onto steam trains on private railways and first generation British tramcars at Crich Tramway museum in Derbyshire in the 1970s. Later on I progressed onto old buildings I remembered fondly, some of which are now demolished.
