Dear wellies fans,
Since my childhood I was fascinated by wornout shoes.
My first love for wellies was as a teenager having ordenairy green Hevea wellies as many of my peers. Jealous to see friends having brown or black Heveas instead of my ordenairy green ones. My wellies had some weaknesses. I started to accelerate the process of aging making some cuts with scissors. I still have some remains of my pairs of the 80's. Meanwhile I shifted my attention to trainers and what we now call Vans. In the 90's I rediscovered the Vredestein wellies, blue with white soles. Not daring to wear them, I destroyed them all in a short time. Somewhere in 2004 I saw a small boy playing football in the street wearing cut off wellworn dunlop wellies. I wanted to have such a pair myself!! I found out these wellies were still for sale so I bought some new Dunlop wellies (blue; grey soles) and cut off the shafts imediately. My normal shoe size is 40/41, but even Dunlops size 38 did fit me. Fearing that one day Dunlop would stop producing my favourite wellies I bought several pairs in different sizes (38 - 40) all blue. Some pairs lost their shafts, one pair even changed into a pair of flip flops. Since I discovered 2nd hand wellies on the internet I started to increase my collection with all types and colour varieties.
Fascinated by Hevea, Vredestein or Dunlop Sport wellies too? Don't hesitate to email me. Languages: English, German, French and Dutch.
