I have four digital cameras and around a dozen film cameras, having acquired my first 35mm camera in 1960. My primary camera is now a Sony DSC-R1. After a year and a half and a couple thousand images, I'm finally learning how to take advantage of its strengths and overcome its weaknesses.
I am a sporadic photographer. When not on one of my trips west into the Texas high desert or beyond, I may take one photo per month, or 100. I've admired the work of many pros and the occasional amateur, but my real hero is Ansel Adams. I suppose someday someone will market an affordable 4" x 5", 100mp sensor in a camera chock full of algorithms guaranteed to emulate Adams's images. Then I'll take up painting.
I worked for over 30 years for the US Air Force as active and reserve military and in civil service. I returned in November of 2005 from an 16 month assignment in Baghdad.
