I recently got serious about learning the art of photography.
I was inspired by my father's cancer. He is one of the best photographers that I know. It also has brought us closer together. I was also inspired by my friend Josh Tolbert. After seeing quite a few of his photographs I decided to really try to learn as much as possible. I have always really enjoyed pouring over the photo magazines and internet sites such as Flickr and Deviant Art and always wondered how they made those shots. I guess you can say the photography bug has hit me like a freight train.
The equipment I currently use are Canon cameras a T50 and an AE-1 I also have a nice Argus SeventyFive and ocassionally I steal my wifes FujiFilm Finepix digitial. The lenses that are currently being used is Canon fd 50mm 1:1.8 , Tokina 35-105mm 1:3.5-4.3, J.C. Penney f=80-200mm 1:3.9 . Fujifilm Superia and Ilfords XP2 Super 400 for b&w.
Editing is handled by Picassa 3 and Photoshop CS3. I would much rather not edit any photos but sometimes(for special effects) it is nice to have. I would much rather develop the skills and have good pictures to start with.
I don't have a particular interest in what is photographed. If it is interesting I usually just go for it for better or for worse. I love pinhole although I don't have the means to do it.
My other hobbies/ borderline obsessions(as my wife Amanda puts it) include, guitar, amatuer radio(KC9MJE), biodiesel and other alternative fuels. I have 2 children 11 and 10 years old. Married for 13 years to Amanda(who is also into photography)
