Garden, DIY and local drama group takes up a lot of time, the rest is spent in the kitchen - what's a recipe for other than to spawn ideas? Measure and weigh ingredients - why?

IN 2008 we (that's my wife, one of my brothers and his wife) bought a farmhouse near Souvigny in the Allier, France and now that much of the work has been done we are starting to enjoy the area and get out and about. But we haven't forgotten how much we enjoy the highways and byways of the USA although the last couple of years we've found how laid back it is to sit on the end of a pier down Florida Keys and spend the days fishing and lazing.
