Inheriting a hand-powered singer sewing machine at nine started a close love of textiles. Specialising in ceramics and visual research at University, sketchbooks, exploring mixed media, surface decoration and mark making lead back to using textiles again.
Hand stitching offers tactile qualities and an intuitive way of working. Embroidery brings with it a steeped heritage, with it’s strong links to past cultural traditions and the personal sense of the makers hand.
I live and work in London making in my spare time, with the occasional commission. I studied at Central Saint Martins before moving onto what is now Brighton University’s Design and Craft course, graduating 2010 at diploma stage.
My current work predominantly involves stitch, exploring simple motifs with a fresh colour palette.
