"Cannes can do us!" - this was the slogan we used in the late 70s to advertise our "weekend of film, joy and imagination". From the very beginning, we refrained from awarding film prizes. Instead, it rained prizes for the winners of the foosball and back gammon tournament and our village mayor presented trophies to the winners of the football derby between the village team and the film festival team. Over the decades, our film festival has become a cultural highlight on the Härtsfeld, attracting more visitors to the Ostalb than the village has inhabitants - which even makes Berlin, Toronto, Venice and Cannes look enviously at Ballmertshofen!
