Photography is a passion I have had for many years. I first ventured into the world of photography when I was in High School and Mary Smothers’ class at Kaiserslautern American High School. The following year I took her advanced class and was an aide. I learned to roll film, mix chemicals and even built my own darkroom at my house.
My second passion has been aviation. I grew up around it in Europe and living on US air bases. It was a driving force behind beginning my Air Force career after high school. During my service I combined photography with aircraft spotting but work always took priority and so I didn’t produce as many images as I would have liked to.
Since I retired from active duty, my work schedule has become much more predictable and I can enjoy my hobbies even more. I hang around airports and attend several airshows a year. I have also begun to learn portrait and studio photography as a means of making a little money to pay for all the toys I have acquired.
A new aspect of shooting I have really come to enjoy is landscape and nature photography. I hope to pursue more adventures to bring this excitement to film.
