I am a South African who has been doing photography as a hobby for the past 25 years.

I started off by printing my own black & white photos. My wife and I would transform our bathroom into a darkroom to develop our photo's.

We dabbled in printing in colour but we battled to get the colour right in the home dark room.

I switched to taking slides about 20 years ago. I was always happiest out in the field taking photo's as opposed to being in the darkroom developing prints.

Two years ago I bought my first digital camera and I am hooked again on taking photo's. Digital is the answer for someone who enjoys taking the photo and spending less time on working on the photo.

Digital quality is now on a par with film. For prints I can go to my nearest photo lab and get beautifull colour pictures at a reasonable price.

I still have another 25 years shooting left in me , so I hope to meet you out outhere one day.

Over the past year my interest has switched from photographing birds to sport photography. I see for the next year or two it is going to be one sport meeting after the next.
