Kirk Thorsteinson is a Canadian expat residing in Bangkok, having lived in Vietnam, Singapore, and Jakarta. He has maintained a passion for photography since childhood.

Mr, Thorsteinson is an avid collector and user of small, medium, and large format cameras and lenses from the 1890’s through to the 1980’s, as well as enlargers and enlarging lenses. He has been fortunate enough to be able to establish a rather respectably sized collection of vintage photography, darkroom equipment, sundaries, magazines, and technical literature that he maintains as a private museum in Bangkok.

Mr. Thorsteinson's photographic interest is the exploration of past formulary, equipment and techniques for monochrome film processing and traditional black and white print production. His particular interest is decisive moment street portraiture.

Although, principally a collector, Mr. Thorsteinson’s amateur photography has focused on capturing quintessential moments of life in rural and urban Asian communities using film cameras since 1995. To see a selection of images produced by a few cameras from his collection, please see
