I'm a late-bloomer. Photography was always in the background of my life; interwoven throughout its many events and changes. But, I never had the time or energy to fully pursue its enticement . . . until now. Retirement has opened up my personal time-space continuum and I've been exploring, more fully, this amazing creative space.

I'm not a professional photographer nor have I found my artistic voice, so many of my images represent exploratory efforts to identify specific areas of interest. For now it’s macro, street/candid, abstract/conceptual, and portrait.

I love working in natural light – sublime, magical, intoxicating, addictive. I also love black and white, but I'm glad we live our lives in color.

Sometimes my work is accidental and immediate; life as I found it in that one nano-second in time. At other times, my work is deliberate and thoughtful, like I'm designing a set for a theater production. I love to craft a shot; to envision it and play with it in my mind. I turn it over in my head a gazillion times before I attempt to "make it so." Sometimes I just can't make it materialize, but I still embrace each idea like my firstborn child. I'm thankful for notebooks and mechanical pencils.

I'm working on introducing off-camera flash into my bag of tricks, but for now I'm still in kindergarten.

One last thought. As we get older, I don’t think we lose our creativity; I just think it comes with a few more wrinkles.
