A former tall ship sailor, I became a Trauma Awareness Activist-Artist in response to the harm I received from the mainstream medical system after I asked for help with Developmental Trauma. Medicine and psychology repeatedly retraumatized me and set back instead. As part of my recovery I launched my personal initiative, #TraumaAwareAmerica, to help frontline healthcare providers understand the need for trauma awareness and Trauma-Informed Care (TIC). As the Covid-19 pandemic created a pre-traumatic state for most, I expanded my activism to help people learn how chronic pandemic stress can lead to trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), particularly for those who have experienced prior trauma. Sadly, America's mental health care system is largely trauma-uninformed and will not be much help for the many people who are already experiencing trauma. Fortunately, when we learn the biology of fear, we do not have to allow it to railroad us aboard the Trauma Train Express. I strive to share the best and most current information about how we can protect ourselves and help heal each other through the pandemic and beyond.

I'm also still a sailor, writer, veteran homeschooler, and grassroots organizer.
