YsMedia is a European non profit, non political and non governmental organisation active in the youth field.

 

Our mission is to empower and engage youth in issues critical to their future, and that of their communities, through the development of multiple skills and the nurturing of their creative expression. We are dedicated to teaching media literacy as a means to develop the artistic, critical literacy and career skills of young people, while nurturing their idealism and commitment to social change.

 

Our focus on youth is a demonstration of our faith in the immense transformative potential of their engagement with the world around them through their communication, creativity, learning and play. We believe that leadership is not merely a trait you are born with but rather a wide range of capabilities that need to be acquired from an early age.

 

Our Goals:

 

- To support access to non-formal education activities for youth, as well as youth workers and trainers.

 

- To encourage youth participation in the building of a more solid civil society, as well as in activities concerning European integration and international cooperation.

 

- To support active public participation of young people, including those with disabilities and those afflicted by various types of disadvantages, in their local communities

 

- To facilitate access to international educational activities, collaborative workshops and participatory educational activities.

 

- To help develop local communities through intergenerational activities involving kids, youth, adults, as well as elderly people

 

- To support youth entrepreneurship

 

- To encourage societies to actively participate in the promotion of a fair and sustainable development at a global level

 

- To advocate for the development of youth policy

  

Our Mission

 

Our aim is to identify, inspire, empower and engage networks of young people in discussions and activities on issues critical to their future and that of their communities. By amplifying youth voice, expression and creativity and nurturing inter-generational dialogue, we encourage youth to practice good citizenry, develop their leadership skills and contribute to the creation of positive and caring communities. We achieve our mission by furthering participatory democracy, academic and practical skill development as well as participatory, hands-on education on media literacy and creative expression.

 

We constantly strive to bring the rich texture of youth’s knowledge and experiences in their local communities to the forefront, help them document it, share it and validate it as a form of primary wisdom about our world.

 

The central goals of YsMedia are to: strengthen youth media teaching and learning practices; foster communities of reflection for youth media educators; support the development of sustainable peer learning networks across local regions as well as nationally and internationally.
