I'm Lex. This is my backup Flickr account. Once I had swollen ankles. My cat seemed to like that.
A former nurse and U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman with a specialty in tissue harvesting, transplantation and dialysis, I never could quite get the job out of my blood... so to speak. So I shoot personal documentary photography on issues involving illness, hospitalization and aging. I enjoy candid and street photography. Sometimes the challenge is finding simple beauty in unlikely places. Look up. Look down. It's there, somewhere.
This is a backup freebie account I set up after forgetting the password for my primary Flickr Pro account. I've since recovered the primary account, which I mostly use for warehousing full resolution JPEGs rather than as a portfolio with any sort of coherent artistic statement.
Not sure how to merge the two now so I'll probably keep this one for low resolution JPEGs, probably mainly of my edited street and candid photography. Oddly, this account seemed to generate more interest and interaction than my original Flickr Pro account did, so I'm keeping it active.
You can read my review of the excellent Ricoh GR Digital IV

I mostly use small, quick, responsive snapshot cameras like the Nikon V1, and Ricoh GX100 and GRD. The smaller sensor helps ensure adequate depth of field at larger apertures. The downside is more noise at higher ISOs compared with larger sensors. It's a tradeoff.
I hardly ever use my Nikon D2H dSLR anymore, but occasionally miss Nikon's excellent iTTL, CLS flash.
I also shoot film, 35mm and 120, mostly b&w which I process myself. Mostly I use smaller cameras like the Olympus XA-3 and 35 RC, and pocket sized Agfa Isolette 6x6cm folder. Occasionally I'll drag out my Nikon F3HP or FM2N, or Yashica 635 TLR.
For editing I mostly use Lightroom 4.x now. If you're on a tight budget and mostly edit JPEGs, Picasa is nearly as good as Lightroom and free. It's not as good as LR for raw files and lacks noise reduction and other features, but it's actually quicker than Lightroom - especially for browsing photos.
