I've been teaching photojournalism for nearly 30 years, have written the leading photojournalism textbook, "Photojournalism: The Professionals' Approach," and co-authored the 7th and 8th editions of "Photography," the leading basic photography textbook.

My most recent undertaking is the Lightscoop, my invention that instantly improves photos taken with the pop-up flash in 35mm SLR Nikon, Canon, Pentax, and Fuji FinePix cameras. It allows photographers to bounce the light from the flash for better photos. My wife, Betsy Brill, and I are selling it on the web. I'm also posting updates on its uses to my blog.

I'm also excited to have made the transition into digital video and am adding new chapters on video and audio to the 6th edition of "Photojournalism," which is out in spring 2008.
