The blog Brown.Girl.Farming began in the summer of 2010 to document her trip working on urban farms in NYC, Detroit, Chicago and DC and discuss the issues of food justice, sustainable agriculture, race and class. From the blog came her series on Grist.org entitled The Color of Food which sparked her discussions with farmers and food activists of color nationwide - the idea to begin the COLOR of FOOD/ map, directory and documentary was born. thecolorofood.org
