Wrote newspaper columns regularly couple of years ago. Had found it difficult to poke nose in current happenings around and decided to give a pause to writing hoping for better days. Gradually other activities related to passion came into play and occupied the empty space of idle mind. Leisure pursuits like Photography followed by Harmonica replaced “hard to please” job of writing. Not unhappy with present day “running at a loss” activities.

You don't make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.”

― Ansel Adams

As a firm believer to what Ansel Adams had said ---- for me photography is something that captures and preserves in your heart the beautiful things in front of your eyes. I am not very interested in getting into the nitty-gritty of classical photographic art. I just move around whenever it is possible and shoot whatever it is beautiful.

It all started when I got hold of my first camera more than four decades ago---a 120mm kid’s camera as a birthday gift from my sister. Photography was all about black and white those days and my enthusiasm did not take long to melt away due to prohibitive cost of films, my lack of interest in “simplistic” Monochromatic Photos and last but not least the sudden demise of the camera itself.

I had to wait for years to get a replacement. After all our parents were not as generous as their present day counterparts and those were the good old days of “Plain living high thinking”.

Eventually my father gave me a somewhat serious camera during my early University days. An Yashica 35mm which served me quite a few years. Photography was not a serious business then and mostly limited to relaxed shooting giving more than enough break to my Gear. Over the years I have used one more Yaschica 35mm replacing the old one, a Vivitar digital camera without LCD display and a Sony Cyber Shot --- which is still usable.

My passion for photography turned a bit serious when I had procured my first DSLR just a couple of years back and it galvanized further with the birth of our grandson Aryan. He started posing for me the day he had arrived this world and till today he is my super model.

I don't know whether I have acquired any worth to mention skill as a photographer as of now---- nevertheless I think some sharpening of whatever ability I have is attained through my shooting experience, from articles of internet I had gone through and my watching of photos of hundreds of different compositions. My hats off to those writers and photographers!

I became a Flickr member in 2012. I believe Flickr is one of the best platforms of photo enthusiasts and it provides excellent opportunity of photo sharing. Sharing photos provides immense opportunity to make friends worldwide and to improve a great deal of photographic proficiency. After a number of years closely associated with Flickr It feels good to visualize I have contacts in every corner of the world.

I use Adobe Photoshop CC and naturally shoot in RAW.
