I am a professional photographer who has recently embarked on a journey to discover just what types of images an iPhone can capture. Having spent thousands of dollars on camera equipment over the years, I've often wondered if it was really necessary to do so, and if it might be possible to capture startling images with substandard photographic equipment. Since I have been an iPhone user from the very beginning, I decided that I would start there.

Capturing images with a cell phone has never excited me much. When I think of cell phone images, I think of those grainy poorly exposed photos you see in the tabloids featuring cheating celebrities and police brutality. The iPhone camera really didn't stand up well against my more expensive cameras in the beginning. Nowadays, however, the iPhone has simply one of the best cameras on the market with multiple lenses and image stabilizers and gyroscopes, you'd be hard pressed to find a cell phone camera that could compare.

So I decided to pursue a career in photography using only my iPhone and the applications available in the iTunes store, some of which do much in adding clarity and color to an image. Every photo featured here was taken with an iPhone, post-processed in the iPhone, and uploaded by way of the iPhone. In other words, the photos you see here were never processed outside the iPhone, and in fact never existed outside the iPhone except when they were uploaded to Flickr by way of the iPhone. Everything you see here was done by the iPhone. No external software not native to the iPhone was used to enhance or alter thee images in any way. All images were shot by the iPhone and post-processed using iPhone applications available in the iTunes store.

Enjoy. Please see my group IPhone Photo Project if you have images you captured on your iPhone and would like to share.
