As well as putting up my latest pictures I do intend to add more shots here from scanning my vast collection of negs and slides, but I realise that I will never complete that, I just don't seem to find the time.
Although I did start taking pictures in the 1970s I'd lost interest in railways until I discovered that the deltics were about to disappear, making me realise that since steam ended the railways were not static. I started taking railway shots in the 1980s, at first with a cheap Russian copy 35mm camera called a Zorki! I had a brief period with a Canon 35mm before moving to a Bronica and then Mamiya medium format cameras and, at the same time switching from negative to transparency film. All the medium format slides and a lot of 35 mm negatives here are flatbed scans of these images, up until 2007 when I went digital with a Canon 5D. I recently acquired a cheap 35 mm scanner to process the last few dozen of my negs that might be worth saving.
I was born in Whitehaven in 1954 and grew up within sight and sound of Corkickle sidings from where my railway interest sprang. For anyone growing up in 21st century West Cumbria, I can't imagine they would even be aware of a railway, let alone develop any interest in it.
NOTE: I've decided to block individuals who follow me but do not display any pictures themselves. However if you do wish to follow me without putting up your own pictures you're welcome if you contact me and identify yourself.
