Project: Tattoo Project
Through this new art project I would like to take the idea of owning a piece of art and the commitment between collector and artist a step further by asking people who are interested in my work to tattoo my designs on their bodies.
Once the design you picked is tattooed it will not be available for others anymore so that the participant becomes sole owner of the design. Each participant also receives an original drawing of the design by Motomichi Nakamura. When the participant chooses to tattoo the design which the original drawing is not available the participant can choose a drawing they like.
The completed tattoos will be photographed and I will post them on my sites(ex: web site, facebook, MySpace, Twitter) and the progress of the project will be viewed by public. Once I have enough photos from the project I'll start promoting it to magazines and other publication media and possibly publish a book later on. All the volunteers for this project will be fully credited and I'll send a copy of the book when it gets published.
I'm currently looking for both tattoo artists who would be interested in providing my art work to their clients and people who would be interested in tattooing my work on their bodies. All the volunteers for this project will be fully credited.
This is an ongoing collaboration project. If you are interested in participating in the project please email me and I'll send you more info, the instruction and the designs. chao!
Instructions: PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY!
1. Once you decide to participate in the project please email me your flickr account name and I'll add you to my contact so that you can see the available designs.
2. Choose your design and download the high res image. There are two folders to choose designs from:
- Folder 1 / Original drawing available
- Folder 2 / Original drawing NOT available
3. Email me the link of the design you chose together with the signed model release form. I will take the design off from the folder so that it will not be available for others anymore.
4. Print out the design you chose, bring it to your tattooist and make an appointment. If you can email me when your session will be that would be great!
*If the tattooist requests a digital format please feel free to email it to her/him. If the tattooist needs the design in different formats please feel free to let me know and I'll be happy to convert the image to whatever he/she needs.
5. Once the tattoo is done please email me the photos in high res format together with the signed model release form and your mail address (so that I can send you the drawing!). If the files are too big for your email server you can use free FTP transfer service such as:
*Photos can be casual. The face doesn't have to be shown if you prefer not to be seen. Work-in-progress photos and any other supporting photos such the tattoo shop, tattooists, friends, your happy face etc would be great too.
6. Most importantly I want to really make sure that you choose the design you like and you are happy with it. If you have any questions please feel free to email me.
I'm looking forward to your participation!
