Like most people on Flickr, I would love to be a great photographer but, alas and alack, I know this will never happen. Number 1, I've loved my cameras and have gradually upgraded them but none of them have entirely compensated for an old man's shaky hand, even with their much-vaunted image stabilizers. Keep taking the Merlot.
Number 2, I'm about as artistic as a Portsmouth carpark (not counting the graffiti).
To compensate for low level skills I try to go to interesting places where great opportunities are looking for great photographers but are prepared to settle for me.
Do I have a favourite picture of my own - yes three really, the alleycat in Rabat, the sunset canoeist in Bamako and the unhinged shutter in Bayeux.
I also like some of the Kodak Brownie pictures I shot whilst living in Malawi for three years in the early 1970s. But the poor quality of the prints, their fading with time and the need to scan them has precluded me from putting more than two on Flickr.
My origins are Mevagissey and Lostwithiel in Cornwall and I love seeing pictures of my home towns and of Fowey where I went to school back in the fifties and early sixties.
I hope there is something you can enjoy amongst my collection but to compensate for picture quality you may enjoy some attempts at humour amongst the picture legends
