There's people we meet all over the place... and then there's J. He's one of a kind and my very first friend here on Flickr. His keen eye for the little things that usually go unnoticed (why else would he be my Master of Detail? ;) and the way he really sees things from the most daring perspectives, teach me about life in general and the way he sees it. His photography is truly inspiring and honest and beautiful - a reflection of himself. I've caught myself several times trying to mimic his extreme angles when shooting a building, forcing myself to look at the small details carved on the walls of an old monument... for him, wondering if J will like it. He's an attentive friend, a thoughtful and generous person - with the most wonderful and wicked sense of humour I could ever wish for! ;) I'm a "big picture" kind of person, I guess. And he's that other half that grounds me and keeps my perspective in check. And I'm not talking (just) about photography here... Thank you so much, my dear friend... John was my first real Flickr friend. I saw a beautiful shot of a ruin in "Rural Decay". And found John at the end of the rainbow! Looked at his delightful photos of ruins, half timbering, old locks, landscapes and much more! I added him as a contact. And luckily he wanted me as a friend too! It took a while to see all his pics, but it was worth it! The shots of old boats and cracked paint inspired me a lot, though it took some time to find a suitable harbour! John looked at my photos too and commented on some. A great start to get, I've been looking forward to his comments ever since! They are very nice and funny too! And his photostream often turns into a veritable, funny chat room, he seems to attract bonkers people, and he is a bit bonkers himself too! John is the best photo friend you could ever wish for!

Every time he is looking up, looking down, at one winter lake or at one cathedral full of gargoyles, John's outlook is always original. When I look at his photostream I need to spend the right time on it, because every shot he takes is so full of details that only one glance is not enough to see all their beauty. John is a fantastic person and a great friend, and his care for the others is reflected in his photos, in which everything, even the street's corners or the abandoned rubbish, becomes important and beautiful. I love to look at his photostream because his pictures are not just awesome but they have also a deep and interesting meaning.
