Started taking pictures with a roll film brownie camera at 10 in 1962 and took all black and white pictures with it.. Got a magicube 126 cartridge camera around 1968 or so. My first color picture camera. Went the compact 110 cartridge camera route in the late 70's. Terrible picture quality! Finally got my first compact 35mm camera in 1984. A Canon Sureshot. Compared to the 110 camera, the pictures were awesome! Shortly after that I purchased a Canon AE-1 Program SLR with a 28mm wide angle lens, a 50mm standard lens, and a generic 80-200mm zoom lens. I liked the quality of medium format film camera pictures, so I also bought a Yashica Mat 124G 120 roll film camera in the late 80's. Interchanged between the 35mm and 120 camera. They both took pretty good quality pictures. My first digital camera was a fuji a800 8 megapixal compact camera in 2007. I thought the pictures it took looked pretty good. Got a Panasonic FH-20 after that in 2011 and got even better pictures. Now have the Panasonic DMC GF-3 and am getting better pictures with it than I've gotten from any prior camera. I'm totally happy with digital camera picture quality, and my film cameras aren't used at all anymore, unless I'm feeling nostalgic. Update: Bought a Sony a5100 and am taking improved quality picture over the Panasonic with it's APS-C image sensor. Really like this camera! Update2: Now have a Sony a7 and like it best of all for ultimate quality pictures, but still use my a5100 when I want excellent pictures with a small compact camera.
