Wow, this is an old synopsis of who Ryan is... (see below)

UPDATE: I'm still a LEGO enthusiast in a massive way... Are trains still my focus? Maybe not... Since being lucky enough to be a contestant on LEGO Masters Australia in 2021 and fortunate enough to make it to the finale, it's fair to say I've broadened my interests somewhat. I am now happy to build pretty much anything, but my interest is always piqued if I can put some kind of mechanism or contraption in there. Whilst my Flickr feed hasn't been updated in a while and is still very train-centric, I promise - there's more on the go.

UPDATE to the UPDATE: March 2023 - And now I've been lucky enough to be selected to take part in LEGO Masters Grand Masters - an all stars season where the 'best of the best' will build it out to find out who is, indeed, the Grand Master!

And my new website www.brickulum.com.au as I venture into the world of workshops, incursions and professional development!

Definitely not JUST a teacher anymore!

OLD STUFF:

I'm a Lego enthusiast with a focus on trains and superheroes. I spend the majority of my time trying to create truly original and unique works such as my Thomas and Friends series of engines and roundhouse. I love complex and challenging shapes, so very much enjoyed designing and building a Wayne Manor and batcave based on the digitally created version in the Batman 2 videogame, where it was shaped like the bat symbol.

Based in Melbourne and a member of the Melbourne L-Gauge Train Club, I have displayed my works for several years publicly both individually and with my club and have received awards for my work; namely Gordon at Brickvention and Arkham Asylum at Bayside Brick Expo. The Island of Sodor also received an "honourable mention" at Brickvention 2016.

Beyond the brick, I am but a humble primary school teacher... however, I run a successful lunch time Lego club and Mindstorms robotics program. I guess you could say that Lego is very much intertwined with my life.
