Light glorifies everything. It transforms and ennobles the most commonplace and ordinary subjects. The object is nothing, light is everything."
... Leonard Missonne
I gave up taking pictures using film a long time ago. Digital is much more to my liking so I have obviously been waiting all these years for it to be invented. I have embraced electronic viewfinders as well which I much prefer to optical after getting over the initial shock and wouldn't want to go back again. As an edit, I understand that the latest electronic viewfinders are much improved and I look forward to buying a new camera in due course featuring all the latest developments. As far as lenses go, I have gone backwards in time and now use mostly 'legacy' lenses. Paradoxically, the full manual control required works much better with a completely electronic camera and the lightness of the lenses is much appreciated. I just like the way they 'render' too (or aren't quite sharp!). My 'showcase' is all black and white images with one exception and contains a good smattering taken with legacy lenses which also brings back nostalgia for the olden days but without the mucking about in dark rooms with chemicals.
Looking through the many outstanding pictures posted by Flickr members, I can but admire and hope to learn from the inspiration of those who do the unexpected and bring it off as well as those who do more conventional things with great craftsmanship.
As a keen walker I naturally gravitate towards landscape photography, now extended to townscapes and I still have some of our fine parish churches to capture and try to do justice to, including the interiors. I do some macro but have expanded into capturing details, reflections and other things that catch my eye when walking around and sometimes modifying the images to create a different effect.
I try and strike a balance between striving for the masterpieces that are never going to come and being content with the merely routine.
I have also been very fortunate in coming into 'electronic' contact with photographers who have gone out of their way to help and encourage and have managed to meet a few too.
I much appreciate comments and favouriting but find that the admin. involved in accepting invitations to post to and join groups I do not belong to already is becoming a little too much so I shall probably have to decline. I have already removed myself from some groups and don't want the list to start rising again. I hope everybody will understand.
