Born early 1950s
Grew up in US, lived in the UK since early 70s.
Flickr member since 16 April 2006.. and delighted with the system.
Two requests to other Flickrers: Our wonderful Flickr world will only be as good as we make it. I think we can make it better by....
1) .... taking time to visit the photostream of photographers who get something elevated to the "Explore" page. Those photos seem to take on a life of their own, but if you go to the pages of people who've taken one good photo, you'll often find plenty of others, languishing "uninteresting" for lack of views, comments, "faving".
2) When I visit someone's photos, if he/ she has a lot, I'm not going to go through them all, sorry! I always check their sets, though, looking for something like "My best", or "I like these". When I'm checking someone's sets, I'm not really interested in sets of photos voted good by the Flickr mechanism.... I can find them other ways. So it is a good idea to avoid the word "Favorite" in the title of a set of photos chosen by you as your better photos. "Favorite" is too easily confused with the Flickr favorites or most interesting. Can someone think of a good name for "the set- of- his/ her- photos- the- photostream-owner- likes- best"?
(A little word about my icon... it is a stick insect. A pupil gave me four eggs around 1974. I still have a colony. See my stick insect photos for more information. The icon is derived from a cross-stitch a friend did for me on my 50th birthday, celebrating aspects of "me".... and the sticks got a mention!)
