I love the outdoors, hiking and backpacking, I enjoy history, nature, wildlife and being a tourist. I am fortunate to visit a few countries from time to time. Best of all I live in California. For me photography is a common thread that ties everything together but paradoxically results in an eclectic photostream. Perusing my albums may add structure to your visit.

I don’t post reels of family barbeque pictures but try to post a few images that will be of interest. I like to describe the equipment and techniques used, identify the location and include a bit of context or history. I wish everyone would do this.

It should be noted that my dull photographs of park signs are usually accompanied by information about the park.

I favorite good photos and follow good photographers but often with a bias to photos I would like to take, techniques I would like to explore and people who visit places I would like to go.

I have a few ideal forms I like to capture. Neon attracts me like a moth. I look for horses, red barns and sunsets on golden summer grass in the gold country. I love the mirror like reflections of landscapes or nighttime cityscapes in water on windless days.

I spend a lot of time driving around redwood forests trying to find that perfect boundary between the fog and the sunshine.

Its good to have a hobby that demands I pursue these obscure objects of desire.
