Jason Blackmore
Drag to set position!
b.1974 Jason Chay Blackmore raised in South Devon, and after graduating from the University of Brighton in 1997, he moved Hong Kong. In 2001 he made the transition from economics to artistry, spending the next decade developing his technique in critical isolation in Southern Taiwan.
Drawing on elements from his early career, Blackmore employs meticulous planning and careful execution to create images with an emphasis on balance, harmony and elegant simplicity. "I've long been interested in early modernism and the Art Deco era" he says "and by studying the artistic movements of the time, Neoplasticism; Bauhaus; Constructivism for example, I hope to recapture the feel of those first pioneering forays into the world of pure geometric abstraction. I work in the formalist tradition, so concern myself with the aesthetics of, line, form, shape and colour, rather than trying to convey subjective, emotional meaning".
Previously working and showing in the Asia-pacific Region. Blackmore recently returned to his South West (UK) roots and works out of his studio on Cornwall's Rame Peninsular and is now an integral part of the burgeoning Rame School of Art.
