Raised in Boston, Jacob Giberson spends his time observing his community and those around him.

The city of Boston is an extraordinary place because of its historic relevance to the beginnings of this country. Today the city is home to many different peoples of all different shades and body types. What comes with this is a lot of hidden prejudices. Many people deny these prejudices but they still exist within the most subtle places.

Jacob comes from a multi-racial background with no more than 15% of any ethnic origin which he can claim. Some of his ancestors came from Sholta Croatia, Ireland, Scotland, Britain, Russia, Yugoslavia, Hungary, and Wales, but many of his ancestors' lineage disappears due to paper genocide which took place during the transatlantic slave trade in this country.

This identity conflict has fueled his work and forced him to ask those difficult questions within himself. Despite his light complexion, Jacob identifies with being a black, white, and native american man in the United States of America.

Jacob comes from a family of artists, designers, musicians, and inventors and is currently a painting major at Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Since graduating from High School, Jacob has been a Teaching Assistant for the Installation Artists' Workshop at the Urbano Project, a Teachers Assistant for the Teen Graphic Design Curators at the Urbano Projects and has been the Urbano Project's Studio Coordinator since September 2010. Jacob was a Visual Art Instructor at IBA, Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción during the summer of 2011.

Jacob has also been a member of Kilombo Novo Capoeira Angola since 2006, where he works as an assistant teacher. Capoeira Angola continues to be a major influence in his life and its tribal community fuels his inspiration.
