My love of photography developed in the early 1970's at Art School, where I was introduced to printing my own mono images. It seemed a magical process, never quite replicated since by the cleverness of digital. In fact technical skills were never my strongest point and partly for that reason I abandoned Photoshop a long time ago, preferring the intuitive approach of PhotoLab by DxO. My photography is probably too eclectic, but perhaps can best be summarised as 'capturing the moment' and 'finding difference'. Editing out boring and weak images takes time and discipline; for that reason I put off sorting out old transparencies for years: But maybe 8-10,000 ended up in the rubbish bin! But how to preserve the remaining archive for the longer-term? It can all appear so transient, especially in the digital world and for that reason I aim to print photo-books. The social side of my photography takes place at the Lacock Positive Club in Wiltshire - the village where Fox-Talbot lived and worked.
