Who?

I am a 40-something male living in Texas. I have a wife, daughter, son, and a awesome dog. Everything else about me is either highly relevant or not…you decide.

Why?

I love to take pictures. In this crazy fast paced world where everything is flying at us at warp speed, it’s important to stop and take a moment to enjoy our surroundings. This is what photography is for me. The true nature of it forces you to take minute to stop and take things in.

What?

I will take a picture of anything. I don’t have a theme or special area of interest, although I take a lot of nature shots. I like to try and find something that is unique and cool to look at. We go past so many things in life without a second glance — I try to catch those things and force a second glance.

Equipment?

People ask me all the time about what camera and lens combination I have. I won’t lie to you, that is important for some of these pictures. But honestly it is only a small part of the secret sauce. In the past year I have take over 10,000 pictures. Each one of those has been a learning experience. Taking the time to sit and learn what each setting does and how your camera reacts in different light situations is the most important thing to know. I have taken several pictures with my fancy DSLR and my wife has taken some with her iPhone right next to me…hers looked a thousand times better than mine. If you must know…I use a Nikon D5100 DSLR paired with Nikon DX 18-55mm 3.5-5.6 and Nikon 50mm in most cases. I also use a Lubitell film camera that I paid $30 for. I used 120mm film in that camera and absolutely love it.
